Barcelona

So I guess this is my final post! I can't believe it's already time to leave. I had such an amazing time over these past two months, and I'm so, so incredibly grateful for my wonderful parents that gave me this opportunity.

Right now, I'm back in Paris...waiting for my room to be ready at the FIAP. It was a weird feeling coming back to Pairs last night. It kind of felt like I was going home! But I was not ready at all. I love, love, lovvve Barcelona.

We got to Barcelona Tuesday morning. I was planning on going to get beach ready before the bike tour, but the salon I found online was closed. Bummer...but our hotel room was really nice, so I gave myself a quick pedicure and took a long, relaxing bath while Alex, Kerry, and Daniel went shopping for beach essentials. Once we all met up, we went to Fat Tire to do the afternoon tour. It was incredibly hot, but it really wasn't that bad once we started riding the bikes. I was much better at it this time! And the beach and sangria was just like I remembered: amazing. By the time we got back, it was almost 9 PM, so we decided to go out. Our tour guides gave us some recommendations, but we got tired of looking for the bars, so we ended up just going back to the hotel.

Wednesday morning, we got up and went to the beach. The weather had cooled off just enough and it was a perfect day. We ate lunch on the beach, (nothing special, just sandwiches) and pretty much stayed there all day. And thanks to my trusty SPF 50, I managed to not get a sunburn at all! But it also appears that I got zero sun at all, which is kind of lame. I wish I could be taking home a Barcelona tan! That night we found a pizza place and I had a really yummy spinach pizza with thick slices of tomatoes and goat cheese...so good. I wish I had pictures! I didn't bring my camera to the beach after hearing horror stories of damage from sand/heat.

On Thursday, Alex wanted to go souvenir shopping, but Daniel and Kerry and I had already done plenty of that, so we stayed behind. We decided to go try the paella place right next to the hotel...it was pretty disgusting. So that was a let down, but I figured we'd find better food for dinner. And I was correct. That afternoon we went back to the beach and I got a lot of reading done. After we all cleaned up, it was pretty late, so we decided to just go to the gothic quarter and see if we could find something to eat there. A lot of the bike tour was around the gothic quarter, so we kind of knew where we wanted to go. We ended up finding a Lebanese restaurant and it was so good. I finally got my grapeleaves fix! So delicious. I'm hungry just thinking about them now! It definitely was different than Phoenician Grill, but it was just as yummy. And the service was great, too. Overall, an awesome night.

The weather was sort of crummy on Friday. It was super cloudy and kind of sprinkled throughout the day. It wasn't too bad, because it definitely made it cool off considerably, but we didn't do the beach that day. We all stayed pretty close to the hotel, and I got some more reading done. When the sun would come out, we would walk up to the hotel's rooftop terrace/pool and hang out there. It was a lazy and relaxing day. That night we went to see the Magic Fountain and it was so incredible! The fountain would go off according to whatever music was playing and it would change colors...it was really cool. But I forgot my camera and I'm really bummed about that.

Saturday was a pretty day, but we were all exhausted. We checked out at noon, stored our luggage and went to the beach one last time. We hung out for most of the day, since our train wasn't until 9 PM. We ended up finding a seriously amazing restaurant for dinner. We got the vegetable tempura...and I honestly didn't think I could eat anything more delicious, but then they brought out the empanadas. Oh my God, I was in heaven. Goodbye Taco Bell craving! And then I got some grilled fish (I don't even know what kind!) and potatoes for my meal...it was incredible. Great way to say goodbye to Barcelona, but I didn't want to go! I definitely could have stayed another month or so until school started, haha.

I can't believe I'll be home tomorrow!

Love and miss y'all! See you TOMORROW!
Allie
