I did make it to the Musee' D'Orsay, but they wouldn't let us take any pictures at all. I was so bummed! I got to see Degas' dancers, Monet's waterlillies, Manet's "Luncheon on the Grass," and the very controversial "Origin of the World" by Courbet. It was pretty shocking. They also had an exhibit on "Crime and Punishment" where there were all these graphic depictions of murders...it was pretty gory, but interesting. And they had an actual guillotine, so that was neat. And I saw my first real Picasso and Andy Warhol in that exhibit! Exciting! It made me and Alyson want to go to the Picasso museum this weekend in Barcelona.
It was great to see all the impressionists' work after seeing all those dark paintings in the Louvre. I wish I had pictures to show you!
Tomorrow I go to the Musee' du Vin in the morning and Le Pompidou in the afternoon. I'm excited for the Pompidou because it will have more modern art than we've been seeing. And then tomorrow night we leave for Barcelona on a night train. The only one that was available was an expensive one that has a bathroom for our room, a "discotheque," and all kinds of other stuff. So that should be neat! And definitely better than our ride home from Nice (we shared the room with four other strangers). It really wasn't that big of a deal. So don't start freaking out, Mom and Dad!
I probably won't have time to write a post tomorrow, but as soon as we get settled into our hotel I'll let y'all know! I sure wish somebody would come visit me!!
Love and miss y'all!
Allie
