Days 7 through 11

Hey everybody! Sorry it's taken so long to update again; our internet is completely out at our apartment and I was pretty busy this weekend in Monaco! But I finally have some pictures to show you what I've been up to!

Last Wednesday, Hailey and I had our first Italian cooking class. Our menu included a cooked caprese salad with eggplant, gnocchi with both a bolognese and a pomodoro sauce, and for dessert we made chocolate salami! Basically, all my dreams come true. It wasn't exactly the same as Italian Barrel's chocolate salami, but it was close. We definitely had a blast!

[Happy chefs]

We visited a gelateria the next morning for my management class. It was one of the oldest gelateria in Florence (founded in 1939) and we got to see how they make all of their gelato from scratch! We even got to taste a few of the flavors. Needless to say, we were all very pleased with our first real field trip.

Very early on Friday morning (4:30 a.m. to be exact), we left Florence for Monaco. Getting to Monaco was somewhat hellacious, but it was definitely worth it. We had an amazing time. It was awesome to get a break from Florence in the most gorgeous city in the world. I'm pretty sure I could easily adjust to life in Monaco. I just need to get my hands on a mega-yacht first...

[Great dinner to end a great weekend]

Sunday afternoon, we began our journey back to Florence. It was terrible in every way. We ended up being stranded in the armpit of Italy Pisa until 1:12 in the morning, when we boarded a bus that smelled like death. I finally collapsed into my bed at 4:08 a.m. and I could not have been happier. It really wasn't that bad, but it was pretty horrible.

Today was pretty laid back. Hailey and I skipped our morning Italian class because we physically could not get out of our beds. I had my management class this afternoon, and then we went to the charity museum and learned about the history of the ambulance service in Florence. It was pretty interesting, but I didn't take any pictures. Tomorrow should be pretty laid back too, but Wednesday we're going to the Pitti Palace and Thursday we're going to see the David. Hopefully I'll be able to get to some internet and make some posts, but if not, you'll know what I'll be up to!

Love and Miss Y'all!
Allie
